Terms of service
The service
DuoWallet is an app for recording and organizing a couple's expenses: who paid, how it's split, who owes what to whom. The service is provided “as is”, in the free version described on the website.
DuoWallet is not a bank and does not move money: the settlements recorded in the app are notes between partners, with no actual transfer.
Your account
Using the app requires a personal account. You are responsible for what you enter and for keeping your credentials safe. The account is individual: even within a couple, each person signs in with their own.
The couple and shared data
Shared expenses, settlements and reactions belong to both members of the couple: both can see them and, until they are settled, edit them. Personal expenses remain with whoever entered them.
If one partner deletes their account, the other keeps the shared history in anonymized form, as described in the Privacy policy.
Proper use
We ask you not to use DuoWallet for unlawful activities, not to attempt to access other users' data, and not to interfere with the running of the service. In case of abuse we may suspend or close the account.
If you attach receipts or invoices to expenses, those documents remain yours: we use them only to provide the service: showing them to you (and to your partner, if the expense is shared) and reading them automatically to pre-fill the expense, as described in the Privacy policy. We ask you to upload only documents you have the right to share, and not to use attachments for unlawful content or content unrelated to the purpose of the app.
Paid plans
DuoWallet has a free plan and a paid plan, DuoWallet Plus. The price and the conditions are shown in the app and on the store before purchase, and nothing is charged without an explicit subscription. The plan belongs to the couple: whoever activates it manages the renewal, and the other person uses its features without paying anything.
The purchase takes place through the phone's store, Google Play on Android and the App Store on iPhone. It is the store that collects payment, issues the receipt and accounts for VAT: we receive confirmation of the purchase and activate the plan.
Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically on expiry, at the same price, unless cancelled. The renewal can be stopped at any time from the store: on Android from the Play Store under Subscriptions, on iPhone from Settings under Subscriptions. On the App Store the cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before expiry, otherwise the renewal goes ahead anyway. You will also find a direct link in the app's Profile, under Manage subscription.
Anyone who cancels keeps Plus until the end of the period already paid for: cancelling stops the renewal, not the access. If a payment fails, the store retries for a few days and Plus stays active during that window, so an expired payment method does not immediately cost you access.
The yearly plan may include a free trial period, shown before purchase. The trial is granted by the store to the individual person: if it is not cancelled before it ends, the first charge is made at the end of the trial period. The lifetime plan, no longer on sale, stays valid for those who bought it: it does not renew and does not expire.
On expiry or at the end of the plan, the couple returns to the free plan. No data is lost: the Plus features switch off and the content created with them (custom categories, budgets, recorded subscriptions, custom splits, attached receipts) remains archived and returns unchanged if Plus is activated again.
If the person paying deletes their account, the remaining couple returns to the free plan. The subscription is not transferable because it lives on the store account of whoever bought it: deleting your DuoWallet account does not cancel it, and it must be cancelled from the store to stop the renewals.
Refunds are decided by the store. On Google they are requested from the Play Store, in your purchase history; on Apple from reportaproblem.apple.com. If a refund is granted, the plan switches off. Consumer rights provided by law remain unaffected.
Liability
We do everything we can to keep the service available and the data safe, but we cannot guarantee the absence of interruptions or errors. DuoWallet is a tool for keeping notes: the financial dealings between partners remain a matter between them.
To the extent permitted by law, liability for indirect damages arising from use of the service is excluded.
Closing and changes
You can delete your account whenever you like, from your Profile. We too may update these terms or discontinue the service: in the event of substantial changes we will give reasonable advance notice.
