Deleting your DuoWallet account
From the app, in a minute
Open DuoWallet, go to Profile, scroll down to Account and tap “Delete account”. We ask you to confirm, and then you have seven days to change your mind: during those days a notice at the top of the app lets you undo it with one tap.
After the seven days, the deletion becomes final.
Without the app
Write to info@duowallet.eu with the subject “Account deletion”, from the email address you signed up with. We ask for the request to come from that address so we can be sure it's you: it's the only way we have of not deleting somebody else's account.
We take care of the rest and confirm when it's done.
What gets deleted
Your access and your identity: the account disappears and your email is freed up. If you ever wanted to come back, you'd sign up from scratch, with no link to the past.
Your personal data inside the app: the expenses you marked as personal, the ones your partner never saw, your personal dates, your preferences and the documents attached to those expenses.
Deleting just a part, without closing your account
You don't have to delete everything to remove something. Inside the app you delete one expense at a time, remove an attached receipt or your profile photo, and that data really is gone.
If you'd rather we did it, or you want to delete something you can't find in the app, write to info@duowallet.eu from the address you signed up with: you can also ask for access to your data, a correction, or a copy of it.
What stays with your partner, and why
Shared expenses and settlements aren't only yours: they also belong to the person you recorded them with. Deleting them would mean tearing pieces out of somebody else's history, and they didn't ask for that. So they stay in their archive, but without you: your name is replaced by “Partner” and your personal data disappears.
If you never had any shared expenses, nothing remains: in that case the deletion is complete.
If you change your mind
Within seven days you undo it from the app and nothing has happened. After that it isn't possible any more, not even for us: deleted data can't be recovered.
For any question, write to us at info@duowallet.eu.
